In a move designed to add veteran depth to the position room, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed safety Arthur Maulet to a one-year contract, Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Reivew reports.

Maulet, 27, spent the past two seasons with the New York Jets. He started 11 games and appeared in 23 over those two seasons.

The Steelers also waived safety John Battle and cornerback Trevor Williams, giving them 90 players on the roster.

Last season, when he made five starts because of injuries at the position, Maulet had 23 tackles, one sack and one interception. He also contributed on special teams during his two years in New York.

Maulet attended Memphis and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints in 2017. He appeared in six games for the Saints that season and was with the Saints and Indianapolis Colts in 2018.
