The San Diego Chargers were once considered among the top teams in the league but experienced a decline from 2010-2012 which led to the dismissals of GM A.J. Smith and coach Norv Turner.
But safety Eric Weddle believes the Chargers are still an elite team, Tom Krasovic of UT San Diego reports.
"We’re not here just to be .500," Weddle said. "We’re not here to maybe win the AFC West here and there. We want to win a Super Bowl. Now, shoot, I feel like we’re the best team in the league," Weddle said. "And a lot of that is because of coach McCoy and the way he presents himself – the way he portrays what he wants. A lot of what you are as a team is attitude, and you can control that.
"I’m just excited," Weddle said. "It’s a new year, a new belief. Until the season ends, I think we’re going to be the best."
