The Vikings agreed to a multiyear contract extension with right tackle Phil Loadholt less than an hour before free agency opened on Tuesday afternoon, Tom Peliserro of 1500ESPN reports citing an NFL source.
Terms were not immediately available, but another source said the Vikings finally increased their offer to more than $5 million a year after the Chicago Bears made a strong push for his services.
Loadholt, 27, has missed only one start in four NFL seasons since the Vikings drafted him in the second round (54th overall) out of Oklahoma in 2009.
