Jimmy Garappolo will play extensively Saturday against Chiefs

The San Francisco 49ers plan to give starting quarterback Jimmy Garappolo extensive playing time for the rest of the preseason-or at least in Saturday's Week 3 preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs-according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football

And that playing time is sorely needed judging from Jimmy G's terrible performance Monday night in Denver in which he was 1-for-6 for zero yards and one interception.  The 49ers’ offensive line didn’t give him much time to pass, and he looked rattled in his first action since tearing his ACL last year. Garappolo will play the entire first half against the Chiefs and could go back out on the field at the beginning of the third quarter depending on his performance.

Lost in Garappolo's dazzling performance in the latter part of the 2017 after the 49ers acquired him and the big-money contract he signed after that season is the fact the 27-year-old has never played much less started a full season in his five years in the NFL.  Despite all his charisma and his physical tools, he needs all the experience he can get.
