Veteran running back Chris Ivory "would be the first option" if LeSean McCoy is unavailable to begin the season as the lead back of the Buffalo Bills according to Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News.

Serious allegations against McCoy of domestic, child, and animal abuse surfaced this week and, while no charges have yet been brought, both police in Georgia and the NFL is investigating the claims of his former girlfriend.  The 30-year-old Ivory signed a two-year, $5.5 million contract with the Bills in March and would likely be the next man up of McCoy becomes unavailable for all or part of the 2018 season.  Ivory spent the past two seasons in Jacksonville and had only mediocre success there but he was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2015 as a member of the New York Jets as a result of his only 1,000-yard+ season.  The Bills may also look to add another veteran free agent back like DeMarco Murray of Adrian Peterson.  Considering that the entire Bills offense is built around Shady, the team is in serious trouble if they have to play without him for a significant amount of time no matter who they bring in.
