The Bengals have finally added a tight end to their room, as they’ve come to terms on a one-year deal with Irv Smith Jr., Andrew Gillis of Cleveland.com reports. The move was first reported by Peter Schrager.

Smith, a 2019 second round pick of the Vikings, has played in 37 career games through his Vikings career. He caught 25 passes for 182 yards last season in Minnesota.

The team added T.J. Hockenson at the trade deadline, forcing Smith down the depth chart as a result.

Smith is not a very big tight end, at just 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, but he’s got good speed an athleticism to compensate for that. As of now, just he and Devin Asiasi are on the roster. The team did not re-sign Mitchell Wilcox or Drew Sample, both of whom remain free agents, and Hayden Hurst found a new team in Carolina.
