The New Orleans Saints became a party of interest for free agent wide receiver Bryan Edwards the moment they signed quarterback Derek Carr, Terrin Waack of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Edwards, still just 24 years old, had the best production of his career while playing alongside Carr. The duo spent the 2020-21 seasons together on the Las Vegas Raiders, working together to accumulate Edwards’ four touchdowns, 45 receptions and 764 yards during that time. That’s not a relationship easily forgotten.

So, when the opportunity in New Orleans arose, Edwards didn’t even bother calling Carr for insight.

“Knowing who he is as a person and knowing what you’re going to get our of him, I didn’t really need to,” Edwards said. “I built up a relationship with him, and you know what you’re going to get out of Derek. You’re going to get somebody that works hard, and he’s willing to put himself out there and willing to lead.”

And Edwards is ready to follow once again.

On Monday, Edwards signed with the Saints for 2023. He and Carr will be reunited after a year apart.

The Raiders traded Edwards to the Atlanta Falcons prior to last season. He appeared in a career-low seven games with only one start. Edwards managed three receptions on five targets for 15 yards in 2022.
