Lamar Jackson would like to be the next quarterback of the New England Patriots – at least according to rapper Meek Mill, Mark Daniels of Masslive reports.

On Monday, Robert Kraft relayed the story to a handful of reporters at the Arizona Biltmore resort in Phoenix. The Patriots owner first met with the media for around 16 minutes to discuss several Patriots-related topics, including Bill Belichick, Mac Jones, and the addition of new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien.

After the media session ended, Kraft revealed that Meek Mill reached out to him to let him know that Jackson would like to sign with the Patriots.

“Meek Mill texted and said, ‘Lamar Jackson wants to come to the Patriots,’” Kraft revealed. “I said, ‘That’s Bill Belichick’s decision.”

Kraft has a relationship with Meek Mill that goes back to 2018 when he worked to get the rapper freed from prison. That year, Meek Mill put Kraft in one of his songs, ‘White Free,’ with the lyrics, “Maybe it’s the Michael Rubin’s or the Robert Kraft’s or the billionaire from Marcy, in a way they got my back.”

Jackson is currently a free agent after the Baltimore Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise on him. That allows Jackson to negotiate with other teams, but also allows the Ravens to match the offer. In the event the Ravens don’t match the offer sheet, the other team would give them two first-round draft picks to sign the quarterback.
