Jets right tackle Wayne Hunter's$2.45 million base salary became guaranteed Wednesday according to Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger.

The Jets had written a loophole in Hunter's 2011 contract which would have gotten them out of guaranteeing his salary if they released him on the Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday after the Superbowl.  Since they took no action, Hunter gets the money.  The 30-year-old Hunter was a media whipping boy in his first year as a starter.  Pro Football Focus ranked him as the fifth-worst offensive tackle in football.  Nevertheless, given his salary it would appear the Jets plan to make him a starter again in 2012.
