Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers have released wide receiver Arnaz Battle and cornerback Bryant McFadden.
The 32-year-old Battle was strictly a special teams player in 2011 and the move gets Pittsburgh off the hook for his $1.04 base salary. Battle appeared in 10 games this year for the Steelers and did not have a reception.
The 30-year-old McFadden plummeted down the depth chart in 2011. Combined, the moves give the cap-strapped Steelers $3,537,500 more to work with in terms of base salary. McFadden could resurface as a nickel or dime back for another team.
