A man has filed a lawsuit against San Diego Chargers linebacker Shaun Phillips alleging the player broke a Champagne bottle over his head at a Pacific Beach bar in 2009 according to Kristina Davis of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Kam Saran filed the lawsuit in San Diego Superior Court in November. The suit says Phillips struck or dropped the bottle on Saran’s head at Bar West.
Saran, then 24, suffered a laceration and closed-head injury as a result, according to the suit.
Phillips’ attorney responded to the suit in December, denying all allegations.
San Diego police investigated the Nov. 23, 2009, incident when it occurred but made no arrests.
