The youngest son of the Jaguars’ new head coach was arrested on charges of cocaine possession and trespassing on Friday, according to police in Chapel Hill, N.C. per Dan Scanlan of the Florida Times-Union.

Shane Mularkey, 21-year-old son of coach Mike Mularkey, was among three University of North Carolina students arrested on the charges.

The new coach offered a brief statement on his son’s arrest via e-mail.

“I am grateful for the support that I’ve received from the Jaguars family and apologize for any distraction,” the coach said. “We are attempting to learn more about the situation, and I appreciate everyone’s understanding that this is a private family matter, and therefore we cannot add anything further at this time.”
